SlurryKat has launched a new combination trailer that can be used as a dump trailer and for bulk haulage.
The Northern Irish manufacturer says strong customer demand for a multi-purpose trailer has led it to design and manufacture the SDT. Primarily it is a dump trailer, but can double up as a silage trailer when a kit is added.
The trailer incorporates elements of the firm’s new 22 tonne Hardox half-pipe Premium Plus dump trailer, featuring a new chassis and a new pendulum bogie system.
It is also available with multi-leaf sprung suspension if required. The trailer has a single tipping cylinder which has 52 tonnes of force in the first stage.
The chassis and all main components, except the body, are made from S355 high tensile steel. The body itself is manufactured from 5mm thick Hardox S700 for durability and lightness, says the company.
At the rear, the door drops flat to the trailer’s base, rather than going up and over when it is in dump trailer format. It is also wider at the rear, improving discharge speed without leaving material in the body, the manufacturer says.
Allowing it to carry bulk material, the silage kit has been designed to be removed in one complete piece. When the kit is added, the dump trailer’s door drops flat, giving a smooth floor to aid material flow. The silage kit includes a hydraulic up and over rear door.
At the front of the silage kit, the front panel slopes towards the tractor and is lower than the side panels, a feature that helps when opening up silage fields and blowing crop over the tractor hauling the trailer, according to the manufacturer.
With the silage kit fitted, the combined unit has a capacity of 34cu.m.
The trailers are also specced with 710/40 R22.5 tyres from BKT, a hydraulic jack and two-pack paint.
Prices for the trailer start at £24,995 plus VAT, with the manufacturer planning additional models soon.
