Pottinger has expanded its range of Aerosem pneumatic seed drills to be used in conjunction with its Lion power harrows.
From November 2020, four and five metre folding versions will be available, complete with a front hopper, called Aerosem F.
Two front hopper sizes are available, 1,700 and 2,300-litres. There are also two metering options, a standard single metering unit or a newly developed dual metering unit.
Called Single Shoot, the dual metering system allows seed and fertiliser to be administered into the seed slot in one pass.
The front hopper is fitted with an airtight cover to ensure the seed is transported back to the coulter bar at the required metering flow rate. The manufacturer says during development, special emphasis was placed on handling and accessibility while filling and calibrating. A service platform provides visibility into the hopper during filling.
The Aerosem FDD coulter bar is mounted on the power harrow using a quick lock system and can be fitted with an optional hydraulic lifting system to increase ground clearance.
Putting the seed and fertiliser in the ground are the firm’s DualDisc double disc coulters. Each coulter is spaced 300mm apart from its neighbour and arranged over two rows, giving a 150mm row spacing.
Coulter pressure can be adjusted mechanically (hydraulic adjustment is available as an option) from a central point and seed placement depth is set from the side of the machine.
The distributor head is mounted on the coulter bar and features a system that means it is always kept in vertical position. Individually controllable outlets (IDS) is an option, allowing tramlines to be established with the drill.
The manufacturer adds its compact attachment to the power harrow puts the centre of gravity close to the tractor.
