Case IH adds smaller model to Optum tractor range

Wanting to cater for every customer type and demand, Case IH has expanded its Optum tractor range with the introduction of a new base model.

Joining its existing Optum 270 and 300 tractor models, Case IH has introduced an entry-level Optum 250 model.

With a rated power output of 250hp, which rises to a maximum figure of 273hp, the new model has been introduced to bridge the gap between the top-end Puma 240 model and the Optum range. It also offers customers an alternative to the firm’s heavy weight Magnums, and should appeal to customers who want to step up a model from the Pumas, but without resorting to a physically much larger tractor, says the manufacturer.

Like its two bigger brothers the Optum 250 is equipped with a continuously variable transmission, 6.7-litre FPT engine, 11,058kg of maximum lift capacity at the rear and features the same 2,995mm wheelbase. It can also be fitted with tyres up to 2.05m in diameter.

Options include anti-lock and an engine braking systems. The latter works in combination with the engine’s variable-pitch fan to create resistance in the powertrain, providing up to 149kW-worth of braking power to help reduce tractor speed.
